    1978-1922 AFGHANISTAN ARMED FORCES 5 YEAR MILITARY SERVICE MEDAL USSR SOVIET ERA
    Democratic Republic of Afghanistan (DRA) 5 Year Military Service Medal (1978-1992). The medal is used and is in good condition. The medal is silver in color with a red enamel star. The red enamel is in good condition with only minor signs of surface wear . The ribbon is clean and is mounted on the Soviet 5 sided style suspension. The reverse has a pin and open catch fastener that is in good working order. The medal was awarded to soldiers and airman (both officer and enlisted) of the DRA after 5 years of honorable service. The medal was discounted after fall of the People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan Communist government in 1992, by the CIA and Pakistan backed Mujahideen.
