    Description

Presented is an interesting Austrian silver skewer with a fish figural topper. This piece dates to around the turn of the century. The fish is solidly cast from silver, very detailed and realistic. The fish has in its mouth a ball of what looks like pink coral, or possibly ceramic.
This piece is in great condition. The ball in the fish's mouth is securely glued as well as pinned. The details of the fish are nice and crisp. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no cracks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The 'blade' of the skewer is hallmarked with the Austrian Diana's head stamp for 800 purity silver, as used circa 1867-1922. There is also a maker's mark, partially worn, that ends in -CK, and what is probably a city mark. The tail of the fish is marked with the dog's head small article mark for 800 purity silver.
The skewer is about 8 3/4 inches long.
The skewer weighs 53.5 grams or 1.9 regular ounces.
