and, during the Soviet invasion of Manchuria, Chief of the Roadway Department for the 25th Army of the 1st Far-Eastern Front.
Markov earned the
Order of the Patriotic War 1st Class
for his services
during the invasion of Manchuria
. Lest his work be mistakenly under-appreciated, note that many, many award citations for the war with Japan remark upon the challenging marching conditions. Logistics were a key element to Soviet success.
The 25th Army was the Soviet occupying force in Korea immediately post-war!
In addition to the present Red Banner, Markov earned a second Red Banner and an Order of Lenin for long service.
