for bravery in the fights of January - February 1943 during the offensive of the 416th Infantry Division on the Southern Front and the liberation of Rostov on the Don.
In these fights, the

delivered letters and newspapers for soldiers directly to the front line, under bombing and artillery shelling.
Soldiers of this division fought in street fights during the assault on Berlin and captured the Reichsbank.
